Women’s empowerment seems to have become the running theme in
Taapsee Pannu’s life at the moment, both onscreen and off it. The actress, who won laurels for her performance in Pink, has taken on the mantle of funding
education
for ten girls now.

“It’s not by design trust me,” says the actress. “I was approached by an NGO who work with underprivileged girls. And I said, yes I’d love to help. That’s all there is to it. Nothing against the boys. In fact, last year I adopted ten kids, both boys and girls from director Lawrence’s foundation.”
The actress agrees that women’s empowerment is a cause she believes in. “In a
patriarchal society
like ours education is imperative to provide a level playing ground for our girls. So I do my bit,” says Taapsee, who earlier raised funds for boxer
Likitha Battini
’s training for Rio Olympics.
On the work front, Taapsee has plenty to look forward to. “I have five films set for release next year. so I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best,” she says.
However, there is just one Telugu film in that list — Rana’s
Ghazi
. “It’s a cameo, I’m playing a Bangladeshi refugee who is rescued by the Indian Navy. I took up the role only because I loved the script. For now, I have my hands full with Bollywood films,” she says, signing off.
