The songs of Ram Charan-Samantha starrer Rangasthalam released till date have become chartbusters. Unfortunately, the second song
Rangamma Mangamma
written by Chandra Bose and composed by Devi Sri Prasad has run into controversy with a person named Ramulu Yadav, President of Yadava Hakkula Porata Samithi demanding that the line
Golla Bhama vacchi naa goru gilluthunte
(Yadav girl pinching my toe, is the literal meaning of the line) from the song be removed with immediate effect.
Ramulu alleged that these words portray his community’s women in a poor light. He went on to warn the film’s makers of a huge protest if they didn’t remove the controversial phrases.
Responding to this, director of Rangasthalam,
Sukumar clarified that ‘Golla Bhaama’ did not mean the literal meaning of a Yadav woman but actually referred to a kind of an insect. He said that this was misconstrued and that it was not their intention to hurt the sentiments of anyone. Hopefully, this explanation by Sukumar should put a lid on the issue.
