When it comes to Tollywood films, you will mostly find established actresses like Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia or Kajal Aggarwal doing the big films. Now Rakul Preet Singh has also joined this list making it more competitive. However, the Telugu film industry also has many young, aspiring actresses who show a lot of promise and may become the next South Indian divas. Let us see who they are.

Keerthy Suresh

Keerthy Suresh is the best example of an actress becoming an overnight success. Until 2015, she was not really popular when she did ‘Idhu Enna Maayam’. But the tide really changed in 2016 with her first Telugu film ‘Nenu Sailaja’. The movie was a light-hearted love story which became quite a sleeper hit. The reason was that the Tollywood fans were completely smitten by her looks. After this, she gained a lot of prominence in Kollywood too, so expect her to become a very famous name in the future.

Sai Pallavi

Sai Pallavi stole the heart of millions as Malar in ‘Premam’. Even though ‘Premam’ was a Malayalam film, it connected deeply with all the youngsters down South, across borders and different languages. She is yet to make her debut in Telugu, which is going to be opposite Varun Tej in a film titled ‘Fidha’. But even before her debut, she is already famous; even though she has done only two films so far. Of course, she is also a great performer and other Tollywood heroines might face some serious competition from her soon.

Niveda Thomas

Niveda Thomas took Tollywood by storm with her very first Telugu movie, ‘Gentleman’. She is beautiful and stunning, but at the same time, she delivered an excellent performance that was almost on par with the lead Nani. Niveda earned a lot of fans in a matter of days after this film released, and a new term called ‘Nivedism’ was coined on Facebook, where several unofficial fan clubs were also created. If this is an indication of what is to come, then this talented actress has the potential to knock all competition out of the park.

Pragya Jaiswal

‘Kanche’ was one film which totally changed the career of Pragya Jaiswal. Before this, she had done one Telugu film called ‘Mirchi Lanti Kurradu’, which flew under the radar. However, it was Krish’s film ‘Kanche’ which earned her five awards in 2016, including a SIIMA and a Filmfare award for Best Debutant Female. She has proved with this epic war drama that she can do a lot more than looking pretty. A lot is expected from this emerging star this year as she will sign new projects.

Ritu Varma

Ritu Varma has been in the film industry for almost three years, but she has finally found her success with ‘Pellichoopulu’. Even before this superb romantic comedy, she was really appreciated for her supporting role in Nani’s ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ in 2015. However, her engrossing performance and on-screen chemistry with Vijay Deverakonda in ‘Pellichoopulu’ is the reason for her newfound fame. Hopefully, she will sign bigger films in the coming years and leave a mark in Tollywood.
