Puri Jagannadh

Puri Jagannadh is one of the most successful directors in the Telugu film industry. He is prominently known for his films like Pokiri, Desamuduru, Businessman and Temper. The director has supposedly worked with all the top actors of the Telugu film industry. Puri Jagannadh‘s first Telugu film, as a director, was Badri. Badri was released in the year 2000 and stars Pawan Kalyan, Amisha Patel and Renu Desai in the lead roles. Puri Jagannadh debuted in Bollywood with the film Shart – The Challenge in the year 2004, which was a remake of Badri. It starred Tusshar Kapoor, Gracy Singh, Amrita Arora and Anupam Kher in lead roles. He directed another Bollywood movie Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap in the year 2011. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Sonu Sood, Prakash Raj, Charmy Kaur, Sonal Chauhan and Raveena Tandon.

Teja

Teja is a noted director in the Telugu film industry. He is popularly known for his blockbuster films like Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu,Jayam and Nijam. Reportedly, Teja is commonly known for casting only debutant actors for all roles in his films. Teja made his debut as a director with a Telugu film Chitramin the year 2000 which became a hit. He entered into Bollywood as a director in the year 2003. He directed his first Bollywood film Yeh Dil starring Tusshar Kapoor and Anita Hassanandani in the lead roles. Yeh Dilwas a remake of his own Telugu film Nuvvu Nenu. Nuvvu Nenu was a superhit whereasYeh Dil didn’t work at the box-office.

Adurthi Subba Rao

Adurthi Subba Rao was a prominent director in the Telugu industry. Adurthi Subba Rao has won 10 National Film Awards. He made his directorial debut with the film Amara Sandesham in the year 1954. He is popularly known for his notable films like Aadarsa Kutumbam, Sudigundalu, Manushulu Mamathalu and Thodi Kodallum to name a few. He entered the Hindi film industry in the year 1967 with the film Milan. The film starred Sunil Dutt, Nutan, Jamuna Pran and Deven Varma in lead roles. Milan was a remake of his Telugu film Mooga Manasulu. Both the movies were a hit. Adurthi Subba Rao later directed many Bollywood movies like Man Ka Meet (1968), Doli (1969), Darpan (1970 ), Mastana (1970), Rakhwala (1971), Jeet (1972), Insaaf (1973), Jwar Bhata (1973) and Sunehra Sansar (1975). He passed away in the year 1975 at the age of 62.

Krishna Vamsi

National Award winning director Krishna Vamsi made his directorial debut in the Telugu film industry with the film Gulabi in the year 1995. His second film Ninne Pelladata starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Tabu, reportedly, became one of the highest grossing Telugu films. Krishna Vamsi won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for his films Sindhooram and Ninne Pelladata. Krishna Vamsi ventured into Bollywood as a director in the year 2002. He directed the Hindi film Shakti: The Power starring Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and Nana Patekar in the lead roles. The film also had Shah Rukh Khan in a special appearance. Shakti: The Power was remake of his own Telugu film Antahpuram. Antahpuram was a hit whereas Shakti: The Power didn’t work much though the actors were appreciated for their performances in the film.

Bapu

Padma Shri honoured Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana popularly known as Bapu in the Telugu film industry is an eminent director in the Indian film industry. He made his debut as a director in the Telugu film industry with the film Saakshi in the year 1967. Bapu even won National Film Awards for his films Mutyala Muggu and Mister Pellam. Bapu made his directorial debut in Bollywood with the film Hum Paanch in the year 1980. The film stars Sanjeev Kumar, Shabana Azmi, Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Raj Babbar, Gulshan Grover and Amrish Puri in the lead roles. Hum Paanch is a remake of his Telugu film Mana Voori Pandavulu, which itself is a remake of a Kannada film Paduvaaralli Pandavaru. Babu further went on to direct Hindi films like Bezubaan (1981), Woh Saat Din (1983), Mohabbat (1985) and Pyari Behna (1985).

K. Vijaya Bhaskar

National Award winner director K. Vijaya Bhaskar made his debut in the Telugu film industry in the year 1991. His first film was Prarthana. K. Vijaya Bhaskar won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for the film Nuvve Kavali in the year 2000. His directorial debut in Hindi was Tujhe Meri Kasam which released in the year 2003. The film stars Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Shriya Saran. Also, this film was Riteish and Genelia’s debut film. Tujhe Meri Kasam is a remake of K. Vijaya Bhaskar’s Telugu film Nuvve Kavali which in turn was a remake of a Malayalam film Niram.
