Ram Charan: Interesting facts about the actor

Ram Charan is one of the most bankable stars in the Tollywood film industry at the moment. He already has an enviable fan base despite being relatively new in the field. So for the fans of the 'Rangasthalam' actor, here are a few interesting facts about Ram Charan that many may not be aware of:

Awarded title of ‘Mega Power Star’

Ram Charan is the best example of an actor whose career is largely influenced by his famous family. He got the soubriquet of ‘Mega Power Star’ -a combination of Megastar, which is his father Chiranjeevi’s title and Powerstar, a title given to his uncle Pawan Kalyan. Ram may have big shoes to fill, but one thing's for sure, he is slowly getting there.

Grandson of freedom fighter

Everyone knows Ram Charan as the son of Megastar Chiranjeevi. However, his grandfather too was a distinguished man. Allu Rama Lingaiah was a doctor who was actively involved in India’s freedom struggle. In fact, he was even arrested by the British during the Quit India Moment. Other than his contributions to the country, he also was a famous comedian and appeared in over a 1000 Telugu movies in his lifetime.

Cameo appearance by Chiranjeevi

The Megastar took a long break from acting a few years ago, but he still continued to do cameos in Ram Charan’s movies. In the blockbuster 'Magadheera’, Chiru appeared as an unnamed dancer in the song ‘Bangaru Kodipetta’. The song happened to be a remix version of a track with the same name in the movie ‘Gharana Mogudu’, which incidentally starred Chiranjeevi. He also supported his son in the action comedy ‘Bruce Lee’, where he appeared as himself.

Performed his own stunts for ‘Dhruva’

‘Dhruva’ is Ram Charan’s hit action film which came out in 2016, which is the remake of Tamil movie ‘Thani Oruvan’. The actor showed extreme professionalism as he chose to perform all his stunts in the film. In an exclusive video, the actor was seen rope climbing in the forest as a part of the shoot. It is truly inspiring to see the actor turn into a daredevil for this movie.

Turned producer for father Chiranjeevi's comeback film

Chiranjeevi helped and supported his son in the early stages of his career, including producing his movies. So Ram decided to return the favour by turning producer for his father’s comeback film 'Khaidi No 150'. He launched his own Konidela Production Company which funded Megastar’s ‘Khaidi No 150’. With this initiative, Ram has added another feather in his cap.
6/8

Entrepreneur and philanthropist

Other than being a brilliant performer on screen, he is also an entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He owns his own polo team Hyderabad Polo Riding Club and he started his own airline called TruJet. Other than these businesses, he is also showing a keen interest in philanthropy and also organised a blood donation camp on his birthday.
7/8

Childhood buddies with Rana Daggubati

Ram Charan and Rana Daggubati went to the same school together in Chennai until ninth grade. In fact, they have been thick friends from their childhood days. Not just that, Ram’s wife Upasana was a junior in the same school and Allu Arjun’s wife Sneha was their classmate. It is really endearing to see their friendship carrying on well into adulthood even though they have become big stars.

Ram Charan trained at the same acting school as Hrithik, Kareena and Priyanka

Belonging to a star family, Ram Charan had always wanted to pursue films. Even though he had grown up watching his father Chiranjeevi’s flicks, he took some basic acting classes from Kishore Namit Kapoor’s famous acting school in Mumbai to hone his skills. Interestingly, this acting school established by the veteran actor has produced a lot of prominent stars in Bollywood including Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra. So, it was definitely a matter of pride for the ‘Dhruva’ actor to have studied in one of India’s finest acting schools which produced such big stars.
