Nandamuri Harikrishna passes away: Rare photos of the actor-turned-politician

Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Harikrishna passed away on Wednesday morning after he met with a fatal accident near Nalgonda in Telangana. The son of late legendary actor-and-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is survived by his three children Nandamuri Kalyanram, Jr NTR and daughter Nandamuri Suhasini. The Telugu film industry is still coming to terms with the loss of the beloved star.

His sudden demise has come as an enormous blow to all. As family, friends and fans grieve about his passing, let's take a walk down memory lane and look at a few of Harikrishna’s rare pictures.

As the beloved son of NTR, Harikrishna was seen attending many of his father's political meets, including this rally during his National Defence Fund activity in 1962.

Since the news of his demise broke this morning, several filmmakers cancelled their promotional events as a mark of respect.

Among the many pictures of Nandamuri Harikrishna doing the rounds on social media, is this first look poster of the actor and Nandamuri Balakrishna in the film ‘Ram Raheem’ directed by BA Subba Rao. The film’s script was tight and Harikrishna’s performance was phenomenal. He was a genius in his own right and carved a niche for himself, something that would give him a stronghold over cinema for years to come. Harikrishna made his debut as a child artist in ‘Sri Krishnavataram’ (1967) where he essayed the role of a little Lord Krishna.

Nandamuri Harikrishna was the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Rajya Sabha Member of Andhra Pradesh. He was into his second term as MP from the seat. A string of celebrities like Venkatesh, VK Naresh, Anushka Shetty, Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi, Radikaa Sarathkumar and Naga Shaurya have paid tributes to veteran actor-politician. Harikrishna was seen along with his brothers Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nandamuri Jayakrishna and his father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao in the rare pic.

Harikrishna managed to woo the audiences not only as a male lead but also as a political leader. He starred in over 100 films so far, all of which established him as one of the biggest stars. He made a mark in films such as ‘Sri Ramulayya’ (1998), ‘Seetharama Raju’ (1999), ‘Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo’ (2002), ‘Seetayya’ (2002) ‘Tiger Harischandra Prasad’(2003) and ‘Swamy’ (2003).

This rare image was reportedly taken when the star shared screen-space with Akkineni Nagarjuna in the film ‘Seetharama Raju’.

He was also a producer. He has co-produced ‘Daana Veera Soora Karna’ (1977). Nandamuri Harikrishna’s childhood picture with his star father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
