Shanmukha Prasanth’s Writer Padmabhushan, starring
Suhas,
Tina Shilparaj,
Rohini and
Ashish Vidyarthi in the lead roles tells the coming-of-age story of a 25-year-old aspiring writer from Vijayawada. “The titular character already has a book published but it has zero sales. Whether he achieves success and what lessons he learns along the way forms the story,” explains producer
Sharath Chandra, as
Anurag Reddy chips in, “The film’s story is so heart-warming, it’s perfect to watch with family.
It’s the big reveal that happens in the last 20 minutes of the film that that made us decide we have to back it. It’s all anyone who watched the film can talk about too.”
Writer Padmabhushan, produced by Anurag Reddy, Sharath Chandra and Chandru Manoharan under Chai Bisket Films and Lahari Films Production is running in theatres. The filmmakers even held special premiers before the film’s release on Friday, which met with tremendous response. “A lot of people wondered why we didn’t have a direct digital release for the film. But to see theatres filled to the brim before and after its release, to watch the audience chuckle together really validated our belief that small films can also run in theatres post the pandemic if the content is right,” says Sharath Chandra.

With Chai Bisket Films, we’re looking to back debut directors with great stories. Hopefully we produce more gems like Writer Padmabhushan, that explore the magic of cinema and will leave you smiling,” says Anurag, rounding off.
