Pawan Kalyan is a superstar in Andhra Pradesh, but his love for India isnt just confined to the South. The actor says that since he grew up in Andhra, which is surrounded by Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he respects diverse cultures as he has been exposed to all of them.

The '

' (SGS) actor explains, Ratanpur, where this film is based, does exist. Before I entered films, I had been there. At that time, it was a part of Madhya Pradesh and not Chattisgarh as it is now. I fell in love with it and over the years it has stayed in my memory. I just like the cultural fusion that it offers.

Pawan says that one of the thoughts that stayed with him while writing the film was, What would happen if a boy from one of these places falls for a girl from one of the neighbouring areas? This got me thinking.

He also wanted a town that has a strong cultural heritage as opposed to a city with urban influences. And Ratanpur seemed to be the right place to base his film. Thats how SGS was made in Indias heartland with strong Northern influences.

'Sardaar Gabbar Singh,' released by Eros International in association with Pawan Kalyan Creative Works and Northstar Entertainment, opens in cinemas on April 8.
