"We are artists, not terrorists," says 'RX 100' actor Kartikeya
Actor Kartikeya of ‘RX 100’ fame took to social media to post a video to clear the air about rumours doing rounds.
“We are artists not terrorists. Lets make sure these situations will not be repeated again keeping an eye on younger generation not to have negative influence of anything.” (sic) he wrote. In the video, he talks of instances where misinformed persons have said that his character Shiva commits suicide in the song ‘Pilla Raa’ from the film, inspiring two students who recently committed suicide.
He makes it clear that not only does his character not commit suicide in the song ‘Pilla Raa’, he doesn’t in the film either. His character is in fact killed by an assassin hired by his ex-girlfriend Indu, played affectively by Payal Rajput. He also makes it clear that even if suicidal characters exist in any other film, the job of a film is to entertain and not to encourage suicide or any form or harm. He calls out society instead for not looking out for red flags in the people around us and helping them overcome their grief.
Kartikeya will soon be seen in ‘Hippi’, directed by TN Krishna. While the initial first looks of the film showed him in a bohemian avatar, one look hints at his character being a boxer in the film. Further details are awaited.
