W/o Ram will touch hearts of the audience: Lakshmi Manchu

A Telugu film that has a married woman, one who’s pregnant at that, as its protagonist! That’s very rare indeed. But then Lakshmi Manchu revels in doing films that are off the beaten track. “W/o Ram has a very pertinent message: When everybody refuses to help you, you realise you don’t need any help. You just do whatever it takes to find the answers you are seeking,” says the actress.
Lakshmi plays a girl named

Deeksha

in the film. She’s a happily married working woman who’s expecting a child, everything is going beautiful in her life. But her life gets turned upside down when her husband gets murdered. “When something bad happens, most people just give in and let it define their lives, but Deeksha is not one of those girls. She refuses to become a victim of her circumstances and fights for justice. That trait of Deeksha resonated with me. Being a woman, I’m told about what I can and cannot do all the time. But I have learnt not to give in and prove my detractors wrong in my career,” says Lakshmi.
Admittedly, she had to push herself to play Deeksha on some days. “Some days, I would wake up restless and all I’d want to do is to take her pain away. No woman should go through what Deeksha goes through in the film. But how she defies all odds and goes after her husband’s killer will leave the audience awestruck,” she says, signing off.
