Legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam

passed away at the age of 74. He was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on August 5 after complaining of

. While he reportedly did well initially, his health condition was constantly deteriorating. According to the sources, he suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest during treatment on Friday, due to which he died at around 1.04 pm.

Tollywood actor Viswant Duddumpudi

, who is known for his stint films like Kerintha, Manamantha, Jersey, Tholu Bommalata and O Pitta Katha in an emotional tribute, said that he was saddened by the news of SP Balasubrahmanyam’s sudden demise.

SP Balasubrahmanyam's last rites

will take place on Saturday at his farmhouse in Red Hills, Chennai, sources said. SP Balu is survived by his son SP Charan, who is a popular singer, actor and producer. The death of the legendary singer has been mourned by celebrities, music fraternity, political leaders and fans.
