Vinaya Vidheya Rama movie review highlights: A strictly okay first hour

Vinaya Vidheya Rama, the third release for this Sankranti, marks the first combination of director Boyapati Srinu with actor Ram Charan. The film has an ensemble cast that comprises the likes of Kiara Advani, Sneha, Prashanth, Vivek Oberoi, Aryan Rajesh and Madhumitha in key roles. An action entertainer coming with huge expectations, here's how the film fared in its first hour.

The film is a story of five street urchins who are raised by a doctor in Visakhapatnam. Ram is the youngest among the boys and most pampered, who considers his extended family above everything else in life. So committed Ram is in the role of a protector for his family that he doesn't mind giving up on his schooling to take care of his brothers. As Ram grows up, he often gets into trouble for his violent travails. While the eldest of the brothers is appointed as an election officer for the election season in Bihar, trouble strikes the household from an unexpected corner and Ram rises up to the occasion.

After a shaky thirty minutes into the narrative, Vinaya Vidheya Rama comes into its own. While action and emotion are Boyapati's forte, the humour portions come as a welcome surprise, though you can't label it tasteful many a time. The film surely isn't bound to work for you if you believe in certain logic. The Boyapati trope of a young man being a protector of a family/individual against all odds has a dejavu effect. Sneha surprisingly gets a lengthy role while Kiara hardly has any meat to her role. This is a strictly okay first hour minus much highs, save the interval bang.
