Vijetha review highlights: An enjoyable ride so far

Rakesh Sashi

's 'Vijetha' starring

Kalyaan Dhev

and Malavika Nair in lead roles released today, featuring music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. The film charts the journey of a happy-go-lucky man Ram (Kalyaan Dhev) who just likes to swing through life aimlessly. His father Srinivasa Rao (Murli Sharma) aims to give him everything in life and fulfil even his smallest wishes in the hope that he grows up empowered to do what he loves in life. However, when he finds out how reckless his son really is, it breaks his heart. Will Ram realise his folly and learn to be responsible is what needs to be seen.
The first half of the film is a relatable ride for anyone who grew up with loving and supportive parents in a loving family. Murli Sharma is beautiful in his role, emoting with perfection even when there aren't dialogues. The debutante Kalyaan Dhev is good enough in his role while Malavika Nair, playing techie Chaitra, hasn't had much to do than play his reluctant love interest. The only issue so far is the glorification of stalking and taking pictures without consent in the name of love.

Tollywood

needs to grow up and redo its definition of love. It remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
