Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming pan-India film 'Kingdom' directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of 'Jersey' fame is on a race against time as its planned May 30 release date looks increasingly uncertain. The team had initially locked in this date for a grand solo launch to avoid the crowded June release calendar. But, with just over a month left, recent reports suggest that 'Kingdom' might not be ready in time.
The dubbing work of the film has picked up speed, and Vijay has been seen at the studios recording his lines. He even gave fans a peek into the process through recent behind-the-scenes clips.
However, as per a Gulte report, the real challenge lies with the film’s background score. Composer Anirudh Ravichander is currently juggling a packed schedule. This has made it difficult for him to dedicate the time needed for 'Kingdom's re-recording—a crucial element for any big-budget action thriller. The team knows that rushing the background music could compromise the film's overall impact, a mistake that has hurt other major releases in the past.

On the other hand, the urgency to meet the May 30 deadline isn't just about finishing the film on time, but a strategic move. June is packed with heavyweight releases like 'Kuberaa', 'Thug Life', and 'Kannappa'. If 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' also shifts to June, the competition at the box office will be fierce. Missing the May window could mean 'Kingdom' gets lost in the crowd, especially since it's aiming for a pan-India audience and needs a clear runway for its promotions and theatrical run.
