Veteran actor and former MP Naramalli Sivaprasad breathes his last in Chennai

In less than a week since the suicide of former Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, another prominent politician from the Telugu Desam Party has breathed his last on September 21. After staying on the ventilator for nearly three days, actor-turned-politician Naramalli Sivaprasad has passed away this afternoon at 2:10 PM due to chronic kidney failure.He was undergoing treatment at the Apollo hospital in Chennai for the past nine days. The body will be moved to Tirupati and the last rites are expected to be performed tomorrow.
Sivaprasad was elected as the Member of Parliament from Chittoor constituency for two consecutive times (2009, 2014). The 68-year-old personality is popular for his witty style of staging protests in the premises of the Parliament. He also represented Satyavedu constituency in the united Andhra Pradesh and worked as the Minister of Information & Culture from 1999 to 2001.
While pursuing his MBBS at SV Medical College in Tirupati, Sivaprasad was inclined towards theatre and decided to pursue his interest by acting on stage. After a decent tenure in theatre, he moved to the silver screen by portraying minor roles and gradually went on to play supporting, comic and antagonist characters. Besides directing a handful of films like Topi Raja Sweety Roja and Illalu, Sivaprasad bagged the Nandi Award for his villainous act in Krishna Vamsi’s 2005 film Danger. He introduced actress Roja to the Telugu film industry with Prema Thapassu.
