After April releases got postponed in

Tollywood

, even the May releases are now following suit.

The release of Venkatesh and Priyamani starrer

Narappa

has now been postponed from May 14 as the country sees a spike in Covid-19 cases during the second wave. The team of the film released a statement that reads, “Narappa is a film that we have made with a lot of dedication and hard work and your love towards the film has been overwhelming. However, we are all going through a

turbulent time

during this unprecedented global pandemic, and hence, keeping in mind the health and safety of our beloved audience, the theatrical release of the film has been postponed.” (sic)

Promising that they will release the film when it’s safe for the audience to return to the theatres, the team added, “We will bring Narappa to you just when the time is right... Until then, be safe, take care of yourself and

stay

strong. We will all get through this together. Please mask up,STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE.” (sic)

Director Srikanth Addala’s Narappa is a remake of Vetrimaaran’s Dhanush starrer Asuran. The film tells the story of a family living in a village reeling under caste oppression. The posters that have already been released see Venkatesh in a rustic, mass avatar. Mani Sharma is composing the tunes for the film that will also see Karthik Rathnam of C/o

Kancharapalem

fame in a lead role. Further details are awaited.
