breathed his last on November 28 at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was admitted to a hospital in the city a few days ago due to
lung-related ailments
. He was 66.
Due to lung-related ailments, Seetharama Sastry was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad a few days ago. The hospital released a statement saying that he was in
ICU
. However, his health condition deteriorated, and he passed away on the evening of November 30.
Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry had written lyrics for leading
Tollywood stars
including, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Venkatesh, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu and among others.
Seetharama Sastry was born on May 20, 1955, in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh. In the 80s, he came to Chennai with an undying ambition to
pen lyrics for songs
in Telugu films. His big break came when he wrote all songs for his debut film 'Sirivennela (1986).' In his career, he had written around 3,000 songs for over 800 movies in Telugu. Sastry has won several awards including, eleven Nandi Awards. He was conferred the Padma Shri for his contributions towards the field
The Telugu film fraternity and fans have been sending their condolences to his family.
Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry is survived by his wife and three sons.
