This trend is slowly, but surely gathering pace. And if trade figures are an indication, these actors have a bright future at the BO.
Winning Trade ConfidenceNithiin is the latest entrant to bandwagon of bankable heroes in tinsel town.
After a string of flops, the young actor hit a green patch and transformed himself into one of the dependable heroes in the industry, with successive hits like Ishq, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde and Heart Attack. The actor is hot property in T-Town post his Heart Attack, which fared well at the box office. ���I���m happy to have won the confidence of the industry. I���m trying to do different roles and I���m conscious about picking up innovative scripts. Though I���ve seen several ups and downs in my career, this sudden boost to my career has kept me grounded���, says Nithiin.
Although
Vishnu Manchu made his acting debut in 2003, it was Dhee (2007) that made him a commercial hero. With his last three outings ��� Dhenikaina Ready, Doosukeltha and Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda ��� setting the cash register ringing, the lanky star has managed to enter into the good books of distributors and exhibitors. Vishnu feels it���s the quality in the roles and the films an actor chooses that help him become ���bankable���. ���People always loved me because of the respect they have for my father. But as an actor, I had to choose roles that suited my body language,��� explains Vishnu.
Wider Options For small budget filmmakers, who can���t afford to shell out big bucks, actors like
Sundeep Kishan and Nikhil have emerged as an alternative choice to the A-listers. Both have delivered hits like Venkatadri Express and Swamy Ra Ra. These actors are slowly emerging as the preferred choice for small budget filmmakers. These actors have been able to exhibit their acting prowess and win the confidence of the audience and trade.
Emerging Markets The success of small budget films is helping actors expand their market as these movies are also being remade in other languages. The makers from other film industries like Bollywood, Tamil and Kannada among others, are leaving no stone unturned to procure the remake rights of these movies. For instance, Nithiin - Nithya Menen starrer Gunde Jari Gallanthayyinde is being remade in Tamil, Kananda and Hindi. Also, Nithiin���s 2012 surprise hit, Ishq is being remade in Tamil. But that isn���t an isolated case though.
Prema Katha Chitram is being remade in Kannada and Hindi. Similarly, the remake rights of Sudheer Varma���s crime comedy, Swamy Ra Ra, has found bidders from Tamil, Kannada and Oriya film industries. Quiz director Sudheer Varma on the prospects of an emerging star in other languages, the director says, ���Whether it���s a big or small star, as long as you have engaging content, the film will be appreciated by the audience. Small films might not get openings like big star films, but as long as the content is entertaining, they will rake in the moolah,��� opines Sudheer Varma.
