Tollywood's calling Anjana

'My Telugu film will be like a litmus test', says Anjana Sukhani in an exclusive interview with TOI....
You are doing your first Telugu film. What made you sign on the dotted line?
I���������d been looking for an opportunity to do Telugu films. This offer fell on my lap, and it was the most lucrative I���������ve received from the industry so far. I didn���������t know much about Ravi (Teja) until this offer came my way.I googled him and found he���������s been part of some of the most successful Telugu films. After I read the script, I was convinced about my character and the movie, so I agreed.
Actors from Mumbai often end up doing glam acts in Telugu flicks. What about you?
I play an out-an-out glamorous character in the film. You might find it surprising, but I have actually been trying hard to break away from the sweet, goodie-goodie girl roles I���������ve done so far. When I did Salaam-e-Ishq, I showed the audience what I could look like in a glam avatar. But that was a very long time ago. Golmaal Returns and Jashnn had me play sweet girl characters. So, this film will be different from what I���������ve done so far.
It���������s going to be a challenge doing a regional film
It���������s a new language and new people. When I was in Hyderabad the last time to discuss my look, I had trouble communicating with my costume designer because neither of us understood the language the other was speaking in. But I���������m a fast learner and once I get into the groove, everything will be smooth sailing.
Do you think you���������ll succeed in juggling Bollywood and Tollywood?
My Telugu film will be like a litmus test. It will open a lot of doors for me. Sensibilities of cinema are different in B-town and Tollywood. Doing both will satisfy me creatively.
