Tollywood beauties are making a comeback!
The heats on in T-town! Screenscorchers Shriya Saran, Tamannah Bhatia, Padmapriya and Sindhu Menon are all set to storm the silver screen once again this season. After successful outings in other language films, these glam girls are making a comeback of sorts to Tollywood.
Shriya gets top billing with big-ticket film Don Seenu opposite Ravi Teja. Kona Venkat, writer of the film, says, Shriyas essaying a substantial role and it is definitely an ideal comeback film for her.

Her role is vital to the script and also gives her scope to portray a gamut of emotions. It is much beyond the routine song and dance roles and relies more on her acting skills. Interestingly, Shriya had a roaring innings in Tollywood with blockbusters like Tagore, Santhosham and Chatrapathi before she gravitated to B-town and K-town and finally returns for her second innings.
Another glam diva who returns to Telugu films after a 18-month gap is Tamannah with Badrinath opposite Allu Arjun. Though I was doing Tamil movies, I have been open to T-town offers, but its only now that I have got a plum role. I am truly looking forward to working with a fabulous dancer like Allu, she says Telugu stars Swathi and Sonia, who dabbled with Tamil films (Subramaniapuram and Paiyaa respectively), will also bank on their upcoming films to regain their foothold in Tollywood. Striker girl Padmapriya, purposefully chose Andari Bandhuvaiya as her comeback vehicle to grab the attention of Tollywood audience, since it was a hatke film. Its not your usual run-of-the-mill commercial film. Realistic roles, a theme that celebrates humanism coupled with an enchanting touching love story, justified my choice, she says. The film has received critical acclaim and shes hoping it will reverse her BO fortunes here, as her maiden Telugu film Seenu Vasantha Laxmi was a disaster.
Sindhu claims that she picked Subhadra just for the satisfaction of essaying an author-backed role rather than for the sake of a comeback. I did that film just to explore a new genre. Of course, I am waiting for a hit since my last few films werent money-spinners, but this suspense thriller will showcase my acting skills too, she quips.
As T-town filmmakers rely more on saleability factor than talent, actresses too have become wiser and are prepared to shuttle across various states to bag roles of their choice and yes, they are calling the shots when it comes to signing on the dotted line too.
