Tollywod songs a hit at Ganesh pandals
Come evenings and the various Ganesh pandals across the city pump up the volume. Every lane and bylane have Tollywood hits blaring through the loudspeaker. Songs from the recently released films like Thoofan, Balupu, Mirchi and Iddarammayilatho among others are this years favouite at most pandals. Denizens at Satyam Junction have been glued to Darlingey osi na darlingey (from Mirchi), while another pandal on the opposite side of the road has been playing Mumbai Ke Heroes, a number from Thoofan.
Similarly, other pandals set up near Gurudwara have been playing songs from Telugu flicks like Balupu, Iddarammayilatho and Prem Katha Chitram. KV Ramana Reddy of Hanuman Youth Association says, We were playing Aaradugula bullet and Chudagane chitti konde from Atharinthiki Daredi, Ninnu chusina kshanana from Prema Katha Chitram and a few other songs from latest Tollywood movies. We play them because people like these songs. The crowd near the pandal starts dancing as soon as the songs begin.
P Sridharudu, pandal committe member of Smart Street Guys near Four Town Police Station, says, Weve been playing random filmi songs. Who wouldnt like to hear hit numbers from movies? They are a hit with people here. Meanwhile, some pandals are also playing devotional tunes. We play devotional songs in the mornings and evenings, mostly before and after the aarti. We switch over to film songs only after that, says U Sanyas Rao, a pandal organiser.
When it comes to devotional songs, its Ilaiaraja and SP Balasubrahmaniam songs that we prefer, he adds. Among other devotional songs, Jai Jai Ganesha, Vakrathunda Mahakaya Sooryakodi Samaprabha, Om Ganeshaya Gajaananaaya, Jai Jai Ganapathi Vuntrala Ganapati, Sri Gananatha pahima Siddhivinayaka pahima, are the most commonly heard at pandals.
