These seven pairs have romanced on the silver screen for more than two times

Right from its inception in the second-most populous country, Indian cinema is known for repeating successful combinations on the celluloid, be it actors, technicians or even the shooting locations. Besides the script and director, filmmakers believe in some ridiculous superstitions hoping that it would guarantee them a victory. However, the on-screen chemistry between the lead actors can sometimes work wonders at the box-office owing to their magical charm which connects with the audience.

During the 80s & 90s, several hit pairs went on to share screen space in a series of films until they have acquired a big flop. Take Venkatesh and Soundarya for instance; the beautiful duo starred in a total of seven films which included six super-hits. After ‘Devi Putrudu’ failed to re-create the magic, the alliance was ended. Lead actors in current times are not hesitating to romance the same heroine multiple times if their union keeps attracting the audience. Without further ado, check out these 7 Tollywood pairs who have scored a hat-trick on the silver screen.

Junior NTR – Kajal Aggarwal (Brindavanam, Baadshah, Temper)

The hyper-energetic Junior NTR shared the screen with the gorgeous Kajal Aggarwal for the first time in Vamsi Paidipally’s 2010 family-drama ‘Brindavanam’ followed by the action-entertainer ‘Baahshah’ three years later. The 33-year-old ravishing actress once again proved to be the lucky mascot for the Nandamuri scion in ‘Temper’ which literally revived his career in Tollywood. Her hot item number ‘Pakka Local’ in ‘Janatha Garage’ became a huge hit among the masses in no time and helped NTR in earning his first 100-crore film.

3/8

Mahesh Babu – Samantha Akkineni (Dookudu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Brahmotsavam)

Samantha grabbed the golden chance to romance Superstar Mahesh Babu in her third Telugu film titled ‘Dookudu’. The blockbuster went on to shatter several records in Tollywood and offered a massive boost to the Chennai beauty. In less than two years, both the lead actors shared the screen once again in the family-drama ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ followed by ‘Brahmotsavam’ with the same director. Sadly, the third combo fell flat at the ticket counters with poor collections.

4/8

Prabhas – Anushka Shetty (Billa, Mirchi, Baahubali franchise)

This adorable pair of Telugu cinema has showcased some sizzling chemistry in all three films which include SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise as well. After sharing screen-space for the first time in the 2009 action-thriller ‘Billa’, Prabhas and Anushka Shetty repeated their magic in Koratala Siva’s ‘Mirchi’. With rumours of their real-life relationship spreading like wildfire, fans are hoping to see the two stars come together and announce their marriage. Both Prabhas and Anushka were seen having a great time at the mega wedding of Karthikeya in Jaipur.

5/8

Junior NTR – Samantha Akkineni (Brindavanam, Rabhasa, Janatha Garage)

Samantha and Tarak delivered a memorable show together in a hat-trick of films which include ‘Brindavanam’,’ Rabhasa’ & ‘Janatha Garage’. Both the actors are very lively both on & off the silver screen and their absorbing chemistry is one among the major factors for their successful combination. Apart from ‘Rabhasa’ in 2014, the other two films managed to fare well at the box-office.

6/8

Balakrishna – Nayanthara (Simha, Sri Rama Rajyam, Jai Simha)

34-year-old Nayanthara is one among the few heroines to share the screen with Nandamuri Balakrishna in multiple films. Both the talented actors have kick-started their association with the 2010 blockbuster ‘Simha’ followed by the epic-devotional film ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ directed by legendary filmmaker Bapu the very next year. After a 7-year gap, the Lady Superstar of Kollywood once again danced alongside Balayya in the first hit of 2018 ‘Jai Simha’.

7/8

Naga Chaitanya – Samantha Akkineni (Ye Maaya Chesave, Autonagar Surya, Manam, Majili)

Chay and Sam is the cutest couple of modern-day Tollywood. After initiating their personal & professional relationship with the 2010 romantic-drama ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’, both the good-looking actors came together for the long-delayed ‘Autonagar Surya’ and ‘Manam’ in 2014. Presently, they are reuniting for the fourth time on the celluloid in the emotional-drama ‘Majili’. The first look poster of this Shiva Nirvana directorial released to glowing praises from all quarters.

8/8

Ravi Teja – Ileana D’Cruz (Khatarnak, Devudu Chesina Manushulu, Amar Akbar Anthony)

50-year-old Ravi Teja and 31-year-old Ileana D’Cruz displayed some stunning chemistry in all their combo films. Starting with the action-comedy ‘Khatarnak’ in 2006, the ravishing bombshell ended her Tollywood stint opposite her favourite co-star with the 2012 film ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’. After a six-year gap, she made her re-entry to South cinema opposite the same Ravi Teja in the recently released ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. Surprisingly, all the films tanked at the box-office.
