Throwback: When Allu Arjun's grandmother Allu Kanakaratnam embraced 'Pushpa 2' star after jail return
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, who got involved in a controversy during the release of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', shared a deep and cherished bond with his grandmother, Allu Kanakaratnam. The 94-year-old, who passed away on Saturday due to age-related ailments, was also a pillar of strength for the actor during turbulent times.
Last year in December, Allu Arjun returned home after spending a night in jail following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of a fan during the Hyderabad premiere of 'Pushpa 2'. His reunion with his grandmother after his release from jail became a cherished moment.
When the actor arrived back at home, the mood in his house became very emotional. Family members embraced him, and he had a special moment with his grandmother. A video from that day showed Allu Arjun bowing down to touch her feet, a gesture of respect, before she pulled him in for a tight hug.
Allu Kanakaratnam spontaneously performed the traditional "nazar utarna" ritual. She seemed so full of feelings of love and protection as she closed her eyes, moved her hand in a circular motion around her grandson's face and head, and then discarded the evil energy in a process to protect him from the evil eye.
Another woman from the family was also seen to perform some rituals with the coconut, which made it even more emotional. To see the actor holding on to his grandmother whilst she blessed him melted the hearts of many across social media.
There are videos on social media that show visually emotional moments as the actor said goodbye to his grandmother. He was shown consoling his son, Allu Ayaan, through his grief. Family members, including Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi were present paying their last respects.
