'They Call Him OG': Pawan Kalyan starrer ticket price hike triggers mixed reactions on social media ahead of release—Read
Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming pan-India film, 'They Call Him OG.' The movie is set to hit the screens on September 25. Just a few days before its release, the Andhra Pradesh government issued an official order permitting a sharp hike in ticket prices, which has led to a discussion online. Let's find out what the netizens are talking about.
As per the order, the cinema operators have been permitted to hold a special benefit show at 1 am on release day, with tickets priced at a staggering Rs 1000. Some die-hard fans of the Power Star are eager to watch the show. On the other hand, netizens have been discussing that the affordability of these tickets would just exclude common audiences from enjoying the cinematic experience.
The order further mentions that from September 25 to October 4, all regular shows of 'They Call Him OG' will also run at revised rates. Single-screen tickets have been capped at Rs 125, while multiplex audiences will pay Rs 150. Importantly, the revised rates apply only to this film. The order also clarifies that "provided it should not in any case be more than five shows in a day."
Following the government's decision, the makers on their social media expressed their gratitude and wrote, "We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Honourable CM Sri @NCBN garu and Honourable Deputy CM Sri @PawanKalyan garu for passing the new G.O. in Andhra Pradesh for the #OG release."
Some fans find paying Rs 1,000 for a once-in-a-lifetime first show is worth it, calling it "an emotion" rather than just a movie ticket. Meanwhile, some expressed disappointment. One user in the comments wrote in Telugu, which loosely translates to, "Is this some kind of planning? How lightly are you taking us, thinking you can crush us into the ground?" Another wrote, "Only 5 shows on Day 1? Useless."
