Movie theatres in
Telangana have been shut for the last two months due to the national lockdown to tackle the novel coronavirus pandemic. It seems now that operations won’t be resuming anytime soon.
As there has been a constant rise in the number of positive coronavirus cases in the state, the government is reluctant to open theatres even if the lockdown lifts on May 29.
Telangana Cinematography Minister,
Talasani Srinivas Yadav confirmed the same and said, “The opinions on the opening of theatres is divided on the side of exhibitors. As of now, we have decided to not allow the operation of movie theatres for at least two more months. Even if we open them audiences won’t be coming to the theatres as social distancing cannot be compromised at any cost. So we have decided to keep them closed for now.”
He also added that the decision on whether to let film and serial shoots can start again has not been taken yet.
