The response for Konda Polam has been heartwarming: Krish

Last year when Krish got together with other directors from the film industry, little did he know that he’d find the story for his next film.

Krish was told about

Sannapureddi Venkata Ramireddy

’s novel

Kondapolam

and once he started reading it, he couldn’t put it down. “I was completely hooked to the book. The story is dense and the characters are impactful and I knew straight away that it would make for a terrific movie. We shot as soon as we could with a limited crew in

Vikarabad

,” says Krish.

Konda Polam

, produced by Y Rajeev Reddy and Jagarlamudi Sai Babu under First Frame Entertainments banner, is running in theatres. “The response has been brilliant and I’m glad because it’s one of my most satisfying and honest works till date. People loved the performances by Vaisshnav and Rakul and Keeravani’s music. I believe the film will pave the way for them to get more such author-backed roles,” says Krish, adding, “It was a taxing film to shoot physically and we had to trek for long hours to reach the location. But it was all worth it.”

Konda Polam tells the coming-of-age story of a young man who learns to face his fears in the Nallamala forest and starts believing in himself. “Books are a completely different medium, so it was a delight to collaborate with the original author to pen the dialogues in the native dialect and flesh out the character of Obulamma (played by Rakul) who’s not present in the book. Her character added a lot of value to the film,” explains Krish, adding, “The love story was carefully weaved into an already existing tale that touched upon numerous themes about life in the forest. I’m glad we were able to retain the essence of the book.”
