‘Karnataka Crush’
Rashmika Mandanna is the most happening actress in South cinema with a bunch of big-ticket projects in her kitty. To cash in on her popularity in the Telugu states, the makers of her latest Kannada film ‘
Pogaru
’ have helmed the project as a bilingual and the
Telugu rights
have been acquired by D Prathap Raju for a massive Rs 3.30 crore. This is certainly an eye-popping amount as
Dhruva Sarja is not a known face to the local audience and the sole crowd-puller has to be Rashmika.
Thanks to its foot-tapping number
Karabuu
, Pogaru has managed to grab the eyeballs of netizens from southern states. The peppy number which hit the bull’s eye with the masses by clocking in a massive 100 Million views has got its Telugu version as well which recently released on YouTube. Though the clip was initially called out for misogyny, it gradually struck the right chord with the netizens for its catchy tune and pacey dance moves by Dhruv.
While the original number has been crooned by Chandan Shetty who also wrote the lyrics and composed the music for the film, the Telugu song is sung by
Anurag Kulkarni with lyrics penned by Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar. Anurag is known for songs like ‘
Pilla Raa
’ and ‘Ramuloo Ramulaa’.
Directed by Nanda Kishore, Pogaru was supposed to be hit the theaters in March, but owing to COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent lockdown, the proceedings have been postponed. While the post-production works are in full swing, the director recently revealed that he is planning to bring out the film to the theaters on Dec 25 or Jan 14. Bankrolled by BK Gangadhar, the actioner features noted actors like Dhananjay, Raghavendra Rajkumar and P Ravi Shankar in pivotal roles.
