Telugu film producer BA Raju passed away in Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday. He was 62 and is survived by two sons, Anil and Shiva. Raju’s younger son
Shiva Kumar revealed on social media that the producer had passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
“With extreme sorrow & grief we would like to announce the untimely demise of our beloved father Shri B.A.Raju.
He passed away due to sudden fluctuations of diabetes & cardiac arrest. May his Soul Rest In Peace. Dad Be A “Raju” Forever because You are a “SUPERHIT” in Our Hearts (sic),” Shiva Kumar tweeted.
Raju started his career as the personal publicist for actor
Krishna. He was also the founder and editor of the film magazine, ‘Superhit’. In the early 2000s, Raju turned producer and bankrolled several films, including Premalo Pavani Kalyan, Chantigadu, Premikulu, Lovely and Vaisakham. Several of his films, including Lovely and Vaisakham were directed by his late wife B Jaya, who had passed away in 2018.
Raju’s sudden demise has come as a shock to the Telugu film industry and several leading actors, including
Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh,
Prabhas and Jr NTR, among others, expressed their condolences on social media.
