Veteran Telugu film lyricist Peddada Murthy passed away on January 3, 2023. He was ill for the last few days and breathed his last on Tuesday. He was 51, and is survived by wife Sandhya, daughter Sugayatri and son Abhijit.
Pedada Murthy was born in Bheemunipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Inherited from his father Veerabhadra Rao, he moved towards literature.
He started his career as a film journalist while studying for his degree in Visakhapatnam. Later, he worked for several coveted newspapers and magazines.
Murthy, who gained fame as a film journalist, entered the Telugu film industry with the film 'Koothuru' with the encouragement of director and producer Tammareddy Bharadwaj. After that, he penned songs for hit films such as 'Idiot', 'Madhumasam', 'Chandamama', 'Ammananna O Tamil Girl', 'Pauradu', 'Kausalya Supraja Rama', 'Stalin' etc. Murthy had written songs for many Telugu serials as well.
Pedada Murthy's wife Sandhya is now starring in several Telugu serials. While daughter Sugayatri is studying Intermediate in Nellore, son Abhijit is studying 10th standard in Hyderabad. The last rites of Peddada Murthy were performed by the family members at the crematorium on Wednesday in Rajiv Nagar, Hyderabad.
As Pedada Murthy left the world halfway, fellow film journalists, film lyricists, friends and loved ones from the film industry are expressing their deep condolences to his family. Film Critics Association president and secretaries Suresh Kondeti, M. Lakshminarayana, assistant secretaries M.D. Abdul, Narayana, treasurer Hemasundar and others expressed their condolences.
