Telugu Film Industry strike ends after 18 days: Chiranjeevi thanks Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for resolving wage hike issue
The Telugu film industry, which had recently been halted for 18 days as a result of the wage hike dispute, finally resumed activity on August 22 after the intervention of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Megastar Chiranjeevi, one of the most influential voices in the Telugu film industry, recently took to his X handle to express deep gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for mediating and bringing the long-standing negotiations to a satisfactory conclusion.
The senior actor praised the Chief Minister's timely intervention, stating that the issue was "resolved in a highly harmonious manner, ensuring justice for both producers and workers." He also lauded the Chief Minister’s proactive measures for the growth of the Telugu film industry and his vision of transforming Hyderabad into a global hub for cinema.
His message in Telugu, loosely translated in English, reads, "I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to the Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, Sri Revanth Reddy, for resolving a highly complex industry issue in a very harmonious manner, ensuring justice for both producers and workers."
Chiranjeevi went on to share that the continued support of the government has been vital for the Telugu film industry's growth and advancement. He expressed hope that with those efforts, the industry would continue to progress in a united manner, with the direct support of the assurance of fair treatment for workers and sustainable production costs for filmmakers.
For the unversed, the strike began on August 4, which consisted of workers of the Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Federation calling for a 30% increase in wages. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce rejected this request, resulting in a deadlock, disrupted film shoots and stalled production across the state. With neither party willing to compromise, the situation continued to escalate, forcing ongoing projects to suffer major setbacks and the industry to face serious consequences.
