Tejaswi Madivada talks about casting couch and how she deals with it
An old video of Tejaswi Madivada of Bigg Boss, Ice Cream and Mana Mugguri Love Story fame does rounds on social media.
During the promotions of her upcoming film, Commitment, which seems to deal with the issue of casting couch in the industry, Tejaswi interacted with a web portal in which she gives her take on why casting couch exists and how she dealt with it when she faced similar situations.

Heartbreakingly, the actress reveals that she was disrespected in her personal relationship due to this. “I was dating someone and wanted to get married to him. But just because casting couch exists in TFI and I work here, he didn’t respect me,” she says, adding, “I have been questioned how I worked with filmmakers like RGV and more without compromising on my values. Now, I cannot prove I haven’t done it. But the industry gets a bad name due to the few who partake in such activities.”
Tejaswi Madivada also believes that the ones who take advantage of budding actors are those who lack conversation skills in general. “They can’t impress a woman otherwise so they hope someone will fall for their power and money. It’s like dangling candy in front of a child and many who come to the industry, especially from the north, do come mentally prepared that this will happen,” she says, adding, “I’ve also felt such situations where I felt cornered but my way of dealing with them has been to escape instead of confronting them. But I’ll be honest; I’ve had good experience in the industry than bad.”
Tejaswi Madivada also spoke in the interview that it took a while for her to shake off the image that was created due to Ice Cream. “I got offered to do an OTT film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui two years ago that I was uncomfortable doing because it had a nude scene. I was asked why I can’t do it again if I did it before, many didn’t realise I’ve actually never gone nude for Ice Cream, it was just a publicity gimmik. With age and experience, I’m more open and comfortable doing such scenes now,” she adds.
