This Monday was a special one for Tollywood filmmakers as the teams of Maharshi and Jersey raked in National Awards for their work.
The event that took place at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi was presided by Vice President
Venkaiah Naidu. Maharshi won awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Choreography while Jersey got the Best Telugu Film and Best Editing awards. Vamshi Paidipally had directed the former which starred Mahesh Babu, Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh in the lead roles while the latter was directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, starring Nani and
Shraddha Srinath.
Editor Naveen Nooli received the award for editing, apart from the directors and producers Dil Raju, Naga Vamsi who took the awards for their films. Raju Sundaram will receive the Best Choreographer award. Elated about it, the producers of Jersey wrote on social media, “Our producer @vamsi84, director @gowtam19& editor @NavinNooli awarded at the 67th. Best Telugu Film. Best Editing. (sic)” The film was even remade in Hindi with
Shahid Kapoor in the lead role and it will hit screens on November 5.
Music composer Thaman S took to social media to congratulate the teams, writing, “#TELUGU CINEMA SHINES at #NationalFilmAwards big Congratulations. Such a Proud Moment for all Our Technicians and all the crafts Who Have Worked Very Very hard for this. @gowtam19 @vamsi84 @NavinNooli @SitharaEnts for #jersey & @directorvamshi #dilraju gaaru for #Maharshi. (sic)” Tollywood celebs and fans also congratulated the teams.
