Telugu people must watch Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and here’s why

The stage is set for yet another big-event film from Telugu to test its fate in the pan-Indian market. After SS Rajamouli succeeded in elevating the standards of Telugu cinema with the mighty successful Baahubali franchise, Prabhas’ Saaho proved that high-octane action and crazy stunt sequences can guarantee a sure-shot blockbuster irrespective of the language barrier. And, the next big thing to join the bandwagon is Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Starring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the titular role, the fictional biopic helmed by Surender Reddy is going to release on October 2 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

Despite staying amid the headlines for its massive budget, ensemble star cast and the engaging plot which tells the story of rebellion leader Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, the multilingual film created a storm on the internet with the action-packed trailers which guaranteed something special for the audience on the silver screen. Jam-packed with high-octane action, astounding sets, breath-taking visuals, battlefield episodes, thumping background score and hard-hitting dialogues, the 270 crore project has all the ingredients of a sure-shot blockbuster. Below are the reasons why all Telugu people must certainly watch Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Untold story of India’s first freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy

Thanks to Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Paruchuri Brothers, the untold story and forgotten truth about India’s first freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy is all set for a visual spectacle on the big screen. Sye Raa tells the story of this rebellion leader from Rayalaseema who fought valiantly against the British rule in 1846. Hailed as the 19th-century hero, Narasimha Reddy was a descendant of the Palegar family, a powerful feudal class of chieftains who looked after administrative matters in villages. After turning into a terror for the Englishman, Uyyalawada was captured and hanged to death in 1847. History says that his skeleton was displayed in Reenadu village inside a cage until 1887.

Biggest film from Telugu cinema after Baahubali and Saaho

Be it the monstrous budget, extensive VFX or the ensemble star cast, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is the biggest film from Telugu cinema after the Baahubali franchise and Saaho. Producer Ram Charan hasn’t compromised on any aspect of the film and made sure that the director got the best team, be it, technicians or actors. According to reports, Charan’s Konidela Production Company has spent a whopping Rs 45 crore just for the visual effects of Sye Raa. About 17 studios around the world were reportedly involved in creating the VFX portions and national award-winning technician RC Kamalakannan has supervised the special effects. Chiranjeevi himself claimed that the climax sequence shot in Georgia has cost around Rs 75 crore for Charan & Co.

Ram Charan turned his father’s long dream into a reality

During a recent promotional event in Chennai, Chiranjeevi recollected the one time when he was jealous of his son Ram Charan. “I was a bit jealous on seeing Ram Charan playing a warrior in Magadheera. I even told him that. He took it so seriously and launched Sye Raa under his own production just to make me happy.” Ram Charan has already admitted that he’ll do anything to make sure that Sye Raa will remain as the most memorable film in his father’s illustrious career. Witnessing his son’s love and dedication, Chiranjeevi said that he is extremely proud of his son and also added that it was his 12-year long dream to make Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Leading superstars from multiple languages of Indian cinema

One among the major attractions of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is its ensemble star cast. The film brought together two legendary film personalities like Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan onto the same frame. The 76-year-old Bollywood veteran essayed the role of Guru Gosayi Venkanna in Sye Raa. While Kannada actor Sudeep and Kollywood superstar Vijay Sethupathi are seen as the neighbouring rulers who join forces with Uyyalawada to face the common enemy, Tamannaah Bhatia played the pivotal role of Lakshmi and Nayanthara stepped into the shoes of Narasimha Reddy’s wife Siddhamma. The rest of the cast included Jagapathi Babu, Ravi Kishan and several British actors.

Renowned technical crew featuring some big names in the country

The story of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has been penned down by Paruchuri Brothers several years ago and the dialogue version is written by Sai Madhav Burra. While Bollywood musician Amit Tridevi composed the foot-tapping tunes, Julius Packiam has added some thunderous BGM to the film which is quite evident in the promos. Ace cinematographer Rathnavelu has cranked the camera and national award-winning RC Kamalakannan acted as the head of visual effects (VFX). Besides Indian technicians, International stuntmen Lee Whittaker and George Powell have been roped in to choreograph the action-sequences and war episodes in the historical drama.
