For a film based on the love story of a director, the title '
Darshakudu
' (which means director), is an interesting one indeed. Why would you name a love story after the profession of the protagonist involved? We wonder if the choice of the title gives away the inherent narcissistic streak lurking in the director who is bankrolling the film? To be fair to
Sukumar, it’s not his story. Apparently, the title is a reflection of the self-seeking ways of the ‘hero’.
“The film deals with a man’s priorities: his struggle between the passion for his craft and his relationship with his lover. It’s about the selfishness of a director who puts his craft above everything else. I think, everyone will be able to connect with it, at some level,” says Sukumar.

Ashok is making his acting debut with the movie which features Hyderabadi girl
Eesha Rebba who plays a costume designer. “Ashok performed like a mature artiste, especially in scenes that needed him to portray serious emotions. If the film does well, he will get more good offers, ultimately it is up to the public to rate him as an actor. But not many people know that he is a very talented writer as well. I advised him to never give up on his writing,” says Sukumar.
Jakka Hari Prasad
is also making his debut as director with this film. “Hari has never worked under me as an assistant director but we have known each other for a long time and shared ideas and discussed various aspects of cinema. 'Darshakudu' is entirely his brainchild and will reflect his unique style,” he says signing off.
