Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu, brother of
Mahesh Babu, passed away on Saturday night due to a prolonged illness.
The family released a statement that reads, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu garu. He will continue to live on in our hearts forever. In light of the current circumstances, we request all our well-wishers to adhere to the COVID norms and avoid gathering at the cremation venue. - The Ghattamaneni Family. (sic)”
On Sunday morning, Mahesh Babu’s brother-in-law
Sudheer Babu and his mother Indira Devi arrived at the cremation venue for the last rites. His mortal remains will be kept at Padmalaya Studios from 11 AM and the last rites will take place at Mahaprasthanam at 12 PM. Seeing as how Mahesh Babu was recently diagnosed positive for Covid-19 and is currently under home quarantine, sources state it is unlikely that he will be able to attend the last rites. The actor was in Dubai with his family to celebrate Christmas and New Year. He returned to Hyderabad recently.
Apart from fans, numerous Tollywood celebs took to social media to share condolences and wish the family well. Ramesh Babu was an actor who made his debut with Alluri Seetharama Raju in 1974. He acted in over 15 films before retiring in 1997. He later turned producer for his brother Mahesh Babu’s films like Arjun and Athidhi. He was
Krishna and Indira Devi’s first-born and has three younger sisters too.
