Chiranjeevi, the megastar renowned for both his superstardom and humanitarian efforts, has once again demonstrated his compassionate nature by extending a helping hand to Tamil actor Ponnambalam. Ponnambalam had been grappling with kidney-related health issues and had previously sought financial assistance, which many people had generously offered. However, the amount fell short of covering his medical expenses. Thanks to Chiranjeevi's generosity, Ponnambalam has since made a full recovery and is now in good health.
During a YouTube interview, Ponnambalam asserted that Chiranjeevi played a crucial role in facilitating his treatment. Ponnambalam expressed immense gratitude towards Chiranjeevi and stated that he would never forget his support. According to Ponnambalam, he informed Chiranjeevi of his poor health through a mutual acquaintance and within ten minutes, the Waltair Veerayya star contacted him and inquired if he could travel to Hyderabad. As Ponnambalam was unable to make the trip, Chiranjeevi advised him to seek medical attention at Apollo Hospital in Chennai and assured him that he would cover all the expenses.
According to Ponnambalam, he wasn't required to pay any admission fee at the hospital, and the entire cost of Rs 45 lakh was covered entirely by Chiranjeevi. Ponnambalam stated that he received exceptional treatment with a personal touch, as Upasana Kamineni, who happens to be Ram Charan's wife and hospital owner, oversaw his entire treatment process, from his admission to his discharge in good health.
According to him, he was expecting to receive around Rs 2 or 3 lakh from Chiranjeevi Sir, but he was pleasantly surprised when Chiranjeevi Sir went the extra mile to ensure that he would receive complete assistance to cover the entire expense.
In addition to his acting career, Ponnambalam has demonstrated proficiency in martial arts and worked as a stuntman. His filmography predominantly consists of villainous henchman roles that showcase his impressive physical abilities, as seen in movies such as Amarkalam and Nattamai. Ponnambalam has also made appearances in Hindi films like 'Rakshak', 'Kroadh', and 'Nayak.'
