SS Rajamouli applauds Ajith Kumar and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Padma Bhushan honour

Director SS Rajamouli expressed his joy on social media after Telugu cinema icons Ajith Kumar and Nandamuri Balakrishna were announced as recipients of the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award for 2025. The announcement, made on the eve of Republic Day, imcluded seven individuals from the Telugu film industry, who would receive Padma Awards this year.

The 'RRR' director on X (formerly Twitter), congratulated Balakrishna, praising his commendable journey in Indian cinema, he wrote, "7 Padma Awards for Telugu people this time… Heartiest congratulations to Nandamuri Balakrishna garu on being honored with the Padma Bhushan! Your journey in Indian cinema is truly commendable… Also, congratulations to all the other distinguished Telugu & other Indian padma awardees…:)"

He also extended his congratulations to all other distinguished awardees from Telugu and across India. In a separate post, he recognized Ajith Kumar's significant impact both on and off the screen, calling it truly inspiring.

He wrote, "Ajith sir, congratulations on being conferred with the Padma Bhushan! The impact you’ve made both on and off the screen are truly inspiring…:)"

The Padma Awards are among India's highest civilian honors and are conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. This year, a total of 139 names were announced, including seven for Padma Vibhushan, 19 for Padma Bhushan, and 113 for Padma Shri. The awards celebrate excellence in various fields such as art, social work, science, medicine, and more.

Among the other notable recipients, this year is filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, who was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan. The 'Baahubali' director congratulated Kapur for his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema,
