Directed by Satish Vegesna, '
Srinivasa Kalyanam' is a wedding film starring
Nithiin and
Raashi Khanna as the groom and bride.
Featuring music by Mickey J Meyer, the film charts the story of a much in love couple Vasu (Nithiin), an architect and Shri (Raashi Khanna), a billionaire heiress. Vasu hails from a close-knit joint family right out of retro family dramas, with his grandmother (Jayaprada) as the head of the family.
Shri on the other hand is the daughter of RK (
Prakash Raj), who believes the only thing that deserves his time is his business. Her sister too is going through a divorce because she believes the same.
The first half of the film is filled with a lot (no exaggeration) of preachy dialogues about sampradayalu and the importance of tradition in marriages and weddings, starting out on the same note with a voice-over by Venkatesh. The film also seems to have no qualms so far to fat-shame the character Vidhyut Raman plays in lieu of comedy. Tollywood, it's time you learn the definition of body positivity and write some new, actually funny jokes.
Filled with old-school tropes and some feel-good moments, 'Srinivasa Kalyanam' is a mixed bag so far.
