The journey of the blockbuster film 'Srimanthudu' released back in 2015, starring
Mahesh Babu, has taken an unexpected turn. As a result, the director Koratala Siva has now found himself entangled in a legal battle, facing charges of violating the Copyright Infringement Act, according to a report by Pinkvilla.
The movie came out to be a box office success, though it sparked controversy when novelist RD Wilson complained against the director, Koratala Siva, and the producers of the film.
RD Wilson, who is also known as Sarath Chandra, filed a complaint against the makers, asserting that 'Srimanthudu' was inspired by his award-winning novel, 'Chachenta Prema,' published in Swathi magazine.
The legal drama began in 2017 when the parties asked the Telangana High Court to grant them relief and to stop the judicial cases that were being brought against them. The court adopted a cautious approach, maintaining the trial of Koratala
Siva under the Copyright Infringement Act while rejecting the accusations against
Naveen and G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment.
Koratala Siva, persistent in his position, chose to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court. In spite of his best efforts, the Supreme Court confirmed the Nampally Court's ruling, leaving the director to face legal action. The accusations focus on the alleged copyright infringement act violation, which seems to be an unexpected twist in the renowned director's career.
