Sreeleela says she wants to break the 'dancer' label with Nithiin-starrer 'Robinhood': 'Leela means no steps'

Sreeleela grabbed eyeballs for her mesmerising performance in dance numbers like ‘Kurchi Madathapetti’ from Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram and ‘Kissik’ from Allu Arjun’s 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'. The actress, at a recent press conference in Hyderabad, expressed her desire to be recognised for her acting prowess rather than just her exceptional dance skills.

During the Hyderabad promotional event for her upcoming film Robinhood, an anchor playfully remarked, “Leela means song, song means dance, and dance means Leela.”


Sreeleela was quick with her reply, “That is why, in this movie, I worked on making it ‘Leela means dialogue, dialogue means performance, and performance means Leela.’” Soon, a song started playing in the background to request actor Nithiin and Sreeleela to dance together, but Nithiin humorously added, “Leela means no steps, only dance.”

The actress asserted that her character in Robinhood would mark a significant shift in her career. Originally, Rashmika Mandanna was cast in the role but had to step away due to scheduling conflicts, leading to Sreeleela taking over. Director Venky Kudumula commended her for stepping in without hesitation, while Nithiin also expressed confidence in the project’s success. Robinhood is slated for a theatrical release on March 28.

Recently, the actress sparked relationship rumours with Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan, with whom she will soon make her Bollywood debut in a romantic movie set to hit theatres during Diwali this year. A video of Sreeleela with Kartik at his family event went viral on social media. According to reports, Kartik and his family hosted a celebration for his sister, Dr Kritika Tiwari, for her achievement in her medical career and also invited Sreeleela to the house party. Kartik’s mother hinted at her wish to have a daughter-in-law who is a good doctor in a recent video.
