Spy movie review highlights: Nikhil Siddhartha's thriller is taut and engaging so far

Editor Garry BH, known for his work in films like Ghazi and Kshanam, turns director with Nikhil Siddhartha starrer Spy which hit screens this Friday.

Jai Vardhan (Nikhil Siddhartha) is a RAW agent on a mission in more ways than one. His brother Subhash (Aryan Rajesh) was declared dead after an important mission. But what really happened? A supposedly dead terrorist Khadir (Nithin Mehta) is alive and well. He poses a threat to India. And to make matters worse, an ex-girlfriend is being a thorn on his side.

Also starring Iswarya Menon, Abhinav Gomatam, Sanya Thakur, Makarand Deshpande and others, the film sees music by Vishal Chandrasekhar and Sricharan Pakala. The first half of the film is taut and engaging for the most part with Jai's attention always split between his personal vendetta and the need to save the country. The big reveal before the interval is not as surprising but with the cards laid out, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
