All set to make a Malayalam debut with none other than
Mohanlal,
Allu Sirish is all but over the moon. Im definitely happy to work with such an esteemed actor but I think it
will really hit me on the first day on set, enthuses Sirish. Directed by
Major Ravi, the movie titled, 1971 Beyond Borders, a period war drama set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan.
What I liked most about the script is that it isnt jingoistically anti-Pakistan, as a lot of such films tend to be. Its all about the human emotions involved in war, he says adding, I am a very patriotic person and I flaunt my love for India at every chance I get. Moreover, I love action movies. So this was exactly what I was looking for.
Sirish is all praise for his director, a retired army major who received the Presidents gallantry medal for his special service. He made many successful Malayalam films like Mission 90 Days (based on Rajiv Gandhis assasination), Picket 43 (based on a soldier guarding a picket alone in Kashmir). Major Ravi has worked as an army consultant for movies like
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Kandahaar, he gushes.
Playing the role of a tank commander, Sirish will be the one of the two lead characters in this movie, the other one being Mohanlal. Besides sharing screen space with the Malayalam matinee idol, Sirish shares that his role will also have a romantic track in the film. Although his leading lady isnt finalised yet, he admits, We have a few options lined up for the casting, but were yet to lock in on someone.
Sirish will be flying down to Rajasthan for the first schedule next Friday. The film focuses on the battle tank fights between the nations and the internal conflicts of the soldiers on both sides of the border.
We will have to wait and see how fans of his elder brother, Mallu Arjun (as he is affectionately addressed in Mollywood) will receive him.
