Siddharth and
Genelia Deshmukh starrer Bommarillu hit screens on August 6, 2006 and was a massive hit.
Siddharth and Genelia recently had a Bommarillu reunion, albeit digitally. The latter shared a short video clip of the two actors video calling each other on Sunday on Instagram and wrote, “N then this happened..Reunion. Missed you Bhaskar, Dilrajugaru, joinprakashraj and @thisisdsp and the entire Bommarillu team. #14yearsofbommarillu.” (sic) In the super-adorable video, Genelia and Siddharth can be seen catching up with each other as Appudo Ippudo from the film plays in the background. Interestingly the song was sung by Siddharth himself.
On Twitter, she shared the same clip and wrote the famous dialogue from the film as the caption, “Anthena?? Inkem Kavali?? Veelaithe nalugu maatalu. Kudirithe cup coffee.” (sic) Music composer
Devi Sri Prasad got so excited about the reunion, he even put the chorus line as his caption and wrote, “Wowwwwwwww thats awesomeee!! PA NI NI SA SA, PA NI NI SA SA, PA NI NI SA SA GA RI SA NI PA..@geneliad @Actor_Siddharth @SVC_official #BommarilluBhaskar.” (sic)
The film which told the story of a youngster named Siddhu, played by Siddharth, his overbearing father, played by
Prakash Raj and a carefree girl Hasini, played by Genelia, whom he falls for was one of the most relatable tales ever told on-screen. Even years after its release, the songs for the films composed by Devi Sri Prasad remain a classic. When the film released it opened to rave response from critics and audience alike.
Bommarillu even won numerous awards – It won the Golden Nandi Award in 2006, with Bhaskar winning it for best debut director and screenplay, Abburi Ravi for dialogues, Prakash Raj and Genelia for Best Actor in Supporting Role and Special Jury Award respectively, Savitha Reddy for Best Female Dubbing Artist. At the 2007 Filmfare Awards South, the film won awards for Best Film, Best Actress and Best Music Director.
