Tollywood enthusiasts are in for a treat as the much-talked-about film, 'Slum Dog Husband,' is set to make its debut on the world of Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming platforms. Starring the dynamic duo of Sanjay Rao and Pranavi Manukonda, this movie garnered attention upon its theatrical release on July 29. However, after a less-than-stellar performance at the box office, the film is now looking for redemption in the digital realm, with its OTT release scheduled for Thursday, August 24.
Aside from the lead actors, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring notable names like Brahmaji, Saptagiri, Raghu Karumanchi, and Yadamma Raju, each contributing their talents to the narrative. Marketed as a dramedy, the movie's success on the big screen has piqued curiosity about its potential performance on OTT platforms.
The heart of the story revolves around Laxman, a seemingly lazy young man, and his pursuit of love. His affections are directed towards a young woman named Maunika, and the plot thickens as the two strive to gain approval for their union within their own households. However, a twist of fate intervenes when it's revealed that Laxman's horoscope isn't favorable, leading Pantulu, a pivotal character, to insist that Laxman marry either a tree or a dog before he can wed Maunika. The ensuing chaos brings humor and unexpected turns to the narrative, as Laxman finds himself in a bizarre predicament.
While the storyline promised novelty and entertainment, the final execution left much to be desired. The director's vision to bring this unique tale to life fell short due to weak writing and lackluster performances from the cast. Despite the potential for an engaging and comedic plotline, the film's impact was diluted by underwhelming acting, hindering its success at the box office.
On the musical front, Bheems Cserolio's compositions provided a sonic backdrop to the film's events.
