It was in 2011 that
Sanjay Dutt first watched Prasthanam. He loved it so much that he approached me himself for the Hindi remake. Cut to 2018, the film is finally ready to go on floors,” says an elated Deva Katta, who shot to fame with the political thriller, which he will now direct in Hindi. The remake will star Ali Fazal and
Amyra Dastur in lead roles, while Sanjay Dutt will reprise the role of
Sai Kumar in the film.
Heaping praise on Dutt,
Deva Katta says, “Sanjay is man of his word. After we had discussed the remake when Prasthanam released in Telugu, life just took over. He was in a fix because of all his personal troubles, so I too thought the remake would never happen. But despite all that, he hadn’t forgotten the word he had given me. he came back and took this film up once again. His dedication towards Prasthanam is a big motivation factor for all of us,” the director reveals.
Incidentally, the film will kickstart on June 1, which also happens to be the birth anniversary of Sanjay’s mother and yesteryear cine icon, Nargis. “It’s a special date and Sanjay wanted to start the film on his mother’s birthday. We, as a team, too felt it would be a great idea. We will shoot one continuous schedule till the end of July and wrap up the entire project,” he shares.
Despite being a remake, Deva Katta says the film will look and feel like a Bollywood political thriller. “The soul and drama in the film will be the same as the original. However, we have made a few changes keeping the Hindi audience in mind. This film will be more realistic and trendy, and will be in sync with films that are being made in Bollywood,” he adds.
