On Wednesday, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu commenced the promotions for her upcoming film 'Shaakuntalam' after expressing her enthusiasm following a private screening the day before. She began the promotions on a spiritual note by visiting the Peddamma Thalli temple in Hyderabad for prayers, accompanied by director Gunasekhar and her co-star Dev Mohan from the movie.
Actor Dev Mohan posted multiple pictures from his temple visit on Instagram. He wrote, ''To new beginnings… Kick started #Shaakuntalam promotions on a blissful and divine note. Looking forward to all the support and blessings (folded hands emoji). #shaakuntalamonapril14."
Earlier, Samantha posted a photo of herself while she was traveling in a car, capturing the moment she gazed out of the window. She wrote, "#Shaakuntalam on April 14th. Here we go!!"
Samantha and Dev coordinated their outfits for the temple visit by both wearing cream-colored attire. Samantha chose a printed suit, while Dev wore a kurta paired with a matching jacket and pyjama.
Samantha portrays the lead role of Shakuntala in 'Shaakuntalam', who is the daughter of Menaka and Viswamithra. The film's initial release date was scheduled for February, but it has been postponed to April 14. Gunasekhar produces and directs the movie, which will hit theaters in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. This project marks the first collaboration between Samantha and Gunasekhar.
After watching the film in a private screening, Samantha shared a note on her Instagram page on Tuesday. Sam wrote, ''And I finally watched the movie today! Gunasekhar garu.. you have my heart. What a beautiful film! One of our greatest epics brought to life so endearingly! I can’t wait for our family audiences to be swept away by the powerful emotions! And all you kids out there… you’re going to love our magical world! Dil Raju garu and Neelima… thank you for this wonderful journey. #Shaakuntalam will forever be close to me.''
Earlier this year, during the trailer launch of 'Shaakuntalam', Samantha expressed her unwavering passion for cinema and how it has remained unchanged despite the recent struggles in her life. She opened up about her diagnosis with a rare auto-immune disease called Myositis, which was confirmed in November last year. During the event, Samantha became emotional as she spoke about her love for the art form that has been a constant source of joy and inspiration in her life.
Last week, Samantha made a comeback to the sets of her upcoming Telugu film "Kushi" after being away for several months. She had taken a break from work due to being diagnosed with Myositis. Samantha was greeted with a cake upon her return to the set. "Kushi" marks the second project in which Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda are paired together, following their collaboration in "Mahanati." The film is being directed by Shiva Nirvana.
