Shooting for Gunasekhar’s
Samantha Akkineni starrer Shaakunthalam has been wrapped up after five long months of hard work.
The film’s team will now begin post-production work and will announce a release date after. The mythological love story will also see Dev Mohan in the lead role. Talking about the film, Gunasekhar took to social media and wrote, “It’s a wrap for #Shaakuntalam ! Owing to the extensive preproduction of 1 year we could wrap the shooting part in 5 months- I thank my team @GunaaTeamworks @neelima_guna for making this happen, thank you.

When Samantha wrapped up her part a few days ago, she stated that she has never worked this hard for a role before. The actress wrote that she maintained a strict diet and workout regime for her look in the film. Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha will debut as Prince Bharat in the film. Shaakunthalam is based on the Adi Parava of the epic Mahabharata and an on-screen adaptation of Kalidas’ work.
Touted to be one of the greatest love stories ever told, the film is set in the Himalayas and was shot on extensively built sets. Recently, the behind-the-scenes of a war sequence that takes place during climax went viral on social media. The film is jointly produced by
Neelima Guna and Dil Raju. It remains to be seen if it’ll hit screens this year or next.
