Cops lathi charge frenzied fans
The police threw a massive security dragnet around the Falaknuma Palace on Tuesday as Bollywood stars and the jet-set kept streaming to the hilltop for Salman Khan's sister, Arpita's wedding. The localites who have been thronging the place, the entrance, the flyover leading to the palace, Vattepally, the areas near Bibi ka Chasma had to content themselves with seeing the fireworks display that went on till 1.30 am.

'Hum log Salmanbhai ke fan hai. Nahi bulaye to kya hua, hum yehin se dekh lenge. This is not time waste,' said Maqsood Mohammed at Engine Bowli, as he waited near the road leading to Falaknuma station.
Crowds lined up on either side of the road leading to the wedding venue from morning to catch glimpses of actors as vehicles slowed down at places to negotiate traffic. While some were happy to stand, smile and wave at the speeding cars, others tried to capture photographs with their cellphones. Some overzealous fans banged on passing cars seeing the actors.
Then, at 11 am, a grey SUV with tinted glasses slowed down and turned at the entrance of the palace and all hell broke loose, as fans rushed to catch a glimpse of Salman Khan sitting in the front with a wan smile on his face. Police had to resort to swinging of the lathi to shoo away the fans. The footpath that reaches the entrance of Falaknuma's welcome arch winding past the Bibi ka Chasma, was also cordoned off by police.
