The movie, which was released on Thursday, May 12, registered a fantastic opening across the centres, despite mixed reviews. The film had garnered fantastic pre-release business, and cashing on the hype the distributors-exhibitors dedicated majority of the screens to the Mahesh Babu-starrer. Although there is negative word of mouth, 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' has managed to do a record-breaking collection on the first day, say trade experts.

Grossing close to 75 crore on its opening day, the magnum opus demolished all previous box office records and cemented its position as the biggest Tollywood films of all time. The period action drama made box office history by collection Rs 73.97 crore share, highest ever opening in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Prabhas's 'Baahubali: The Conclusion'
SS Rajamouli’s 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' created history and secured its place becoming the biggest Day 1 opener in AP and Telangana until his latest magnum opus 'RRR' arrived in theatres. The Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer demolished opening day records of 'Baahubali part 2'. The film managed to collect a whopping share of Rs 43 crore on its opening day in both the Telugu states. 'RRR' broke the record of 'Baahubali 2', which collected Rs 73.97 crore on its opening day.

If we talk about Mahesh’s own films from the past and their collection in opening day, 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' was on top. But the latest release has broken his previous records. 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' made Rs 32.77 crore shared in Andhra and Telangana regions in its opening day. 'SVP' made Rs 36.89 crore on Day 1, and thus stands on top in his career. As per a report, the total worldwide gross of 'SVP' on Day 1 is said to be around Rs 75 crore across the globe.

Chiranjeevi's 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy'
Director Surender Reddy’s 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' has registered career-best opening day figures for Chiranjeevi at the box office. The film, bankrolled by Konidela Production Company was off to a flying start at the ticket window in home states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well as the overseas territories like the US and Australia. The film's day-one gross in Telugu states is estimated to be Rs 54. 70 crore, with an approximate share of Rs 38.75 crore.

Prabhas's 'Saaho'
Prabhas starrer 'Saaho' garnered superb collection at the box office and become the biggest opener for the Telugu hero in the North region. The Sujeeth directorial had been created positive buzz ever since it was announced. The huge hype helped the film get decent advance booking for its opening day. The Shraddha Kapoor’s debut Tollywood film has grossed over Rs 60.40 crore at the AP and Telangana box office on the first day, and its approximate distributor share stands at Rs 36. 52 crore.
