RGV is a genius: Subrat
Subrat Duttas name might not ring a bell immediately, but the award-winning Bengali actor whos made a mark in B-town as protagonist in Madholal Keep Walking, is going to be seen as AK (Ananthapuram King) Gundu Seenu, Paritala Ravis trusted aide in Ram Gopal Varmas Rakta Charitra.
Seems like the fear of APs dreaded factionists has seized this National School of Drama grad too as he gets wary when asked about his role.Whatever the perception of folks on RGV, Subrat is a staunch fan - RGV is a genius, he says and adds I was supposed to shoot for 18 days, but it was extended to 45 days as Ramuji added new dimensions to my role.

Also I am featuring in both Part I and Part II of the film, he says.
Was it tough getting the cultural nuances of Rayalaseema? He says, This is the age of globalisation and acting transcends all boundaries, but Ramuji knows how to handle an actor. For my role I learned Telugu and practiced my lines till the wee hours of the morning .
On Madholal that got him best actor award at the Cairo Film Festival and had people abroad comparing the film with Slumdog Millionaire he says, Slumdog Millionaire underlined poverty, it had that bechara factor, but in Madholal the slumdwellers have a certain dignity about them. Subrat is happy about the award but says that its all because of team work.
Talking about future projects, he says hes excited about Kris Allens Last Breath Beautiful, Ardhangi Ek Ardh Satya based on Tagores story Ghare Bairey and Dheerajs film on farmer suicides.
So, how was his shooting experience in the city? Hyderabad is not new to me. Ive shot for Mani Shankars Tango Charlie and for some of my Bengali films here. I like Hyderabadi food, especially the rice! Its like I have come to my place - I can eat dahi chawal!
